LIVE AIR

GENERAL

PDL-AF comes with a finger wheel controller, it suites someone who is looking for a remote follow focus. It can be mounted on a rig or handles and become a useful tool for self shooters.
PDL-AZ works similarly but it is specifically made for someone who is looking into achieving a smooth “push-pull” effect in their shots, so ideal for zoom and iris control.
The two are compatible and available to be purchased separately or as a kit.

Any lens can be used providing the focus/zoom ring is not incredibly stiff. For photo lenses, you will need a 0.8Mod Lens Gear to wrap around the focus ring, that way it can attach correctly to the motor.

You can auto calibrate easily with a single press then hold of the button on the motor or controller, bear in mind this will only work with cine lenses or lenses with hard stops.

Super easy, once the motor is setup and switched on, you can calibrate by turning the lens by hand to each end of the focus scale, then turn back the other way slightly. Then wait for the lens to register in the middle of the scale and the motor will be activated. Those end points will be assigned as ‘hard’ stops.

Good question, its very powerful. Torque is 0.4Nm maximum, so can pull focus on any lens including most stiff vintage or cine lenses.

We can sell replacement motor gears, in different pitches: 0.4, 0.5, 0.6 and standard 0.8.

You can download the latest manual at pdmovie.co.uk in the downloads section.

7.5-10ms, but the lens response will depend on the stiffness of the focus/zoom ring.

The wireless range is rated up to 50m in open space. Realistically we recommend up to 10m in a normal environment to maintain a stable connection.

Fear not! It’s simple to pair the controller to the motor via bluetooth. by 3 clicks and then hold the button to restart the bluetooth scanning. This must be done on both controller and motor to pair them up.
